Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Bassett & Partners LTD ("we", "us") collects when you ask us for a vehicle valuation, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We only ever ask for what we need to prepare your report. Nothing is collected for any other purpose without telling you first.

Who we are

Bassett & Partners LTD is the data controller for the information described in this policy. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15737912. Registered office: 9 Glencarron Way, Southampton, Hampshire, SO16 7EF. For any question about your data, contact us at bassettpartner@gmail.com.

What we collect

Why we collect it, and on what basis

We process your information because it's necessary to carry out the valuation you've asked us for and to invoice you for it (performance of a contract). Where you contact us before instructing us (for example to ask a question), we process your details on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to you. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not profile you or make any automated decision based on your data.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your details to anyone. We share the minimum necessary with:

We may also disclose information where we're required to by law, for example to HMRC, if your valuation is being relied on for an import or tax matter and they ask us to confirm it.

International transfers

Where a processor we use stores data outside the UK, we only use providers that offer an adequate level of protection for your data (for example, under UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

We keep valuation records for 6 years, the minimum period required for UK business and tax records, so that you or a third party relying on the report (such as HMRC, an insurer, or as part of a probate matter) can refer back to it if needed. After that period, records are securely deleted.

Keeping your data secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the information you send us against loss, misuse or unauthorised access, and only the people who need it to prepare your valuation and invoice have access to it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons. To do so, contact bassettpartner@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.

Reviews

If you leave a review through the link we send you, we store it on our own website hosting. We only publish your rating, the service, your review, your name as you wrote it (initials or "Anonymous" are fine) and your photo if you agreed to it. Photos are resized and stripped of hidden information, such as location data, before they're stored. If we don't publish a review, its photo is deleted. We publish reviews on the basis of your consent, and you can ask us to remove yours at any time by emailing bassettpartner@gmail.com.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar storage. Some are always on: they remember your cookie choice, quietly block spam bots on our enquiry form, and count visits through Google Analytics so we can see how the site is used. Google acts as our processor for that data and you can read Google's privacy policy. PostHog is also always on, for every visitor like Google Analytics: it records how visitors use the pages (clicks, scrolling, page views and form steps), with anything you type in form fields hidden from the recordings. Recordings are kept for 1 month, and PostHog stores a cookie whose name starts with ph_ (kept for up to 1 year) plus browser storage. PostHog Inc. processes this data for us and stores it in the European Union: see PostHog's privacy policy. When you send an enquiry, we also note in general terms where that visit came from and which page you landed on first, so we know which pages reach people. None of this is used for advertising. You can turn the enquiry attribution off at any time, free of charge, on the Cookie Settings page.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
