Published 2 November 2026 ยท 3 min read

Our standard valuation report is four pages: vehicle and customer details with the final value on page 1, specification, condition and photos on page 2, comparable vehicles with market and reliability analysis on page 3, and the factors that raise or lower the value, a declaration and a signature on page 4. It is a supporting document for a file, not expert evidence.

PageWhat it contains
1Customer and vehicle details, executive summary, final valuation

Your price is confirmed in writing before any work begins.

What can a solicitor use it for?

The report gives a documented figure for a vehicle in matters such as probate and inheritance tax, financial disclosure on Form E in a divorce or separation, and an import value for HMRC. Each purpose has its own date and basis, so tell us what the figure is for and, for a past date, which date. We prepare a separate report for insurance disputes.

What is the report not?

It is not expert witness evidence. We do not act as an expert witness, do not attend court or tribunal hearings and do not produce reports in the format of Part 25 of the Family Procedure Rules. It is not legal or tax advice, and we do not promise that a court, HMRC or an insurer will accept it.

Send the make, model, mileage, photos and the purpose and date of the valuation, and we will confirm a price in writing before starting.

What do we need to start, and how long does it take?

The make, model, VIN, year, mileage, engine size, fuel type, number of previous owners, any damage, four photos (one per side) and one of the odometer. Once we have them, the report is usually with you the same day. The price is confirmed in writing before any work begins.

How long is the valuation report?

Four pages: details and final value, specification and condition with photos, comparables with market and reliability analysis, then the factors, declaration and signature.

Is the report expert witness evidence?

No. It is an independent written supporting document. We do not act as an expert witness and do not attend court.

What does a solicitor need to send?

The vehicle details, photos, the purpose of the valuation and, for a past date, the date the value is needed for.

Need a vehicle valuation for a client file?

Send the details and photos. We confirm the cost first, and the written valuation, with the comparables set out, is usually with you the same day.
